Plan management and support coordination are both NDIS services that help participants put their NDIS plan into action and get the most out of their support. While they are often grouped together, these two services are different and have some key differences.
Plan management takes care of the financial administration aspects of an NDIS plan. This includes getting your providers invoices paid, making claims through the NDIS portal and keeping track of how much of your funding you have spent and is remaining.

Our Support Coordination service helps you get the most out of your NDIS plan while ensuring the services you choose deliver on your needs, expectations and goals.
Your support coordinator is there to help you understand your plan and assist you in accessing the support and services that will have you working towards your set goals. From planning a holiday to navigating a crisis, your support coordinator will act as a personal research tool available to help you utilise your NDIS funding and engage with your other service providers.
Unlike plan management, support coordinators do not manage the financial aspects of your NDIS plan.

Both of these services can be fully funded by the NDIS, but there is one primary difference.
There are no conditions for having funding for plan management included in your plan. This means that if you ask for it in your planning meeting, your NDIS planner should include it.
In comparison, not all participants are eligible for support coordination. The decision to include funding for support coordination in a plan is assessed on a case by case basis. Generally, support coordination will be included in your funding if you do not have an informal network of friends and family who are able to help you find and connect with service providers.
Support coordination and plan management address two very different needs, and are therefore funded under two different categories. This means that you can have funding for both in one one NDIS plan.
